With a note (folio 49 verso) that a copy was made for William Palmer, Attorney, Ironmongers' Lane, London, as a guide to making his own catalogue; a catalogue of a library (not apparently relating to the preceding memorandum), eighteenth century (folio 50); and an alphabetical list of styles (folio 84).

These may have come from the collection of Charles Kirkpatrick Sharpe (information supplied by the donor).

Scope and Contents

The manuscript signed by Johan Friedrich Osthoff, describes intrigues conducted in the interest of Prince James Stuart in 1719, with especial reference to a bogus expedition to Madagascar. The persons chiefly active were one Morgan, Captain Galloway of the frigate ‘Revolution’, Colonel Sebach, Clincowstrom (Klinckowstrom), and Count Carl Gyllenborg, the Swedish Minister in London.
