Scope and Contents
The contents are as follows. (i) Memorandum of Sir John Coxe Hippisley, 1806, concerning the effects of the Treaty of Pressburg on the Balkans and the land route to India, with a memorandum, 1800, proposing a Franco-Russian military expedition to India (folio 1); (ii) Memorandum of Colonel Barry Close at Poona, 1808, concerning a possible French invasion of India by land (folio 12); (iii) Memorandum of Lieutenant John Canning at Calcutta, 1813, giving an account of the Burmese empire (folio 36); (iv) Memorandum of Henry St George Tucker, Secretary to the Colonial and Financial Department, 1813, concerning the causes of financial distress in Calcutta (folio 64); (v) Memorandum of Lieutenant Colonel Colin Mackenzie at Batavia concerning the possessions of the Dutch East India Company, 1813 (folio 89); (vi) Memoranda of Benjamin Roebuck concerning Indian coinage, 1802-1827 (folio 107).
