Some letters to Henry Dundas (Lord Melville), 1783-1807, unconnected with election, possibly indicate that these are part of the Melville papers. The papers consist of minutes of elections, lists of peers and their votes, protests, excerpts from ancient records, proposals as to methods of electing, and other papers.

The Mastermind Club was founded in 1978 as a club for all those who had appeared on the show. A yearly quiz for members, called the Magnum, was hosted by Magnus Magnusson until 2005. Since 2006 Tony Dart has acted as Question Master for the quiz.

These papers relate to the period spent by Johnston as Colonel Commdandant of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical engineers. This has been placed within his military career despite most of the material dating beyond his active military service. This is due to it still being a military appointment albeit an honorary position and does not fit within his civilian career.
