The letters, chiefly drafts or copies, are written to a wide variety of correspondents and discuss many topics in relation to Patrick Geddes' work and thought throughout his career. There is a concentration of correspondence around 1900, the year in which Geddes visited America and the year of the Paris Exhibition. In many of the letters he expounds his sociological theories, town-planning ventures, and numerous other projects.
