To the papers William, the 6th Laird, has added extensive annotations, and historical accounts of the family and their lands, copies of letters and various excerpts relating to these subjects and local affairs, and accounts of his own career, the latest dated entry being of 1854.

Although some personal accounts are to be found here, the majority of these papers relate to James Seton's tutorship of his nephew, George, 8th Baronet of Cariston. Included are a rental of Kennoway, circa 1767-1781, expenses for inclosing land, 1768-1769, and a roup roll for a sale of stock at Balbreikie in 1791.
