Scope and Contents

The manuscript, which covers the period only as far as October 1643, is the same as that common to the other copies in this Library, agreeing with them against the printed book occasionally in small omissions and additions, and frequently in vocabulary, spelling and word order. A few of the early pages contain summaries in the margin.

The manuscript, written on sheets watermarked 1841, consists of an introduction (folio 1) and five chapters of which the fifth consists of only three leaves (folios 101, 102, 103 verso). The last sentence of the text of folio 103 verso is followed by an encircled instruction 'Here take in journal from page 50 to page 53', but all after folio 103 verso is lacking.
