The papers being chiefly correspondence, including letters of Lady Margaret St Clair and Andrew Dishington, Minister of Stronsay, with some biographical details concerning him of 1898. Also a petition of Christiana Crawford or Moodie for justice against her husband's murderers, 1725, notes on grain exported from Orkney in 1834, and copies of charters and legal documents relating to Orkney 1433-1708.

Scope and Contents Comprised of: charters and sasines of property in North Street, Perth, 1544-1668 (further records of the Incorporation held in the Scottish Record Office - GD1/427 - show that by 1718 the Hammermen had acquired much of the North Street property by purchase from David Moncrieff who in turn had acquired it from Sir William Stewart of Inneruytie) and one for property in South Street, 1781. Scope and Contents

These papers include the birth certificates of John Rennie's children, typescript copies of some early family letters (photocopies of the originals are in MS.19966, folios 12-52), papers concerning the possible purchase of Phantassie, 1896, 1912, and a history of the firm of J and G Rennie from its foundation to its dissolution in 1862.

The papers include geographical notes and tables; a list of guests at the wedding of Robert Omond and Mary Eliza Traill, 1838; extracts from the journal of Thomas Rickman, the architect, concerning Professor Thomas Stewart Traill, 1811-1819; papers of Traill's executors, 1862-1863; and notes by Traill on fossil fishes found at Skaill, Orkney, published in ‘Transactions of the Royal Society of Edinburgh’, volume XV, part 1, 1841.

The papers consist of miscellaneous legal documents, estate papers, letters, account-books and legal volumes, not only concerning the Stuarts of Castlemilk and Torrance, but also the Crawfurds of Milton; this family was linked to the Stuarts of Castlemilk when Margaret Crawfurd, heiress to the entailed estate of Milton, married Sir William Stuart, 2nd Baronet, of Castlemilk.
