Scope and Contents

The papers concern politics, the crops, sedition, and all matters not covered by the other volumes in the series. On folio 131 is a note, undated, in the 1st Lord Melville’s hand, apparently referring to persons intriguing with the French Revolution.

Scope and Contents The contents are as follows: (i) “The Historie of the Estate of the Kirk of Scotland from the first Reformation of the Religion in Scotland in 1560 and continuing to the year 1637” by Mr John Row Minister of Carnock; (ii) “The Relation of the prelats cariage for introducing the books of cannons & common prayer” followed by a collection of papers on church affairs for the years 1637-1639, of which a list and description is given by Mr Laing in the appendix to “Lord Rothes’ relations”...

Scope and Contents The contents are as follows: (i) A copy of ‘Historie of the estate of the Kirk of Scotland’ by John Row, with an addition after 1637 (beginning at page 284). At the end, in what appears to be a transcript of Mr Row’s own memorandum, it is noted that the text was copied at Aberdeen, October 2 1650; (ii) Miscellaneous papers concerning church affairs, duplicating some of those found in Adv.MS.34.5.13; (iii) ‘A supplement of the historie of the Kirk of Scotland…: or ane handful of goates haire...
