This series contains 48 mountaineering diaries created by John Hinde, dating from his early schooldays until his death in 2002. Diary entries capture his thoughts and impressions of his expeditions, and are often complemented by charming original drawings and illustrations depicting maps, routes, topographical features, and people encountered along the way.

This diary records the climbs of Edward R Zenthon between 1942 and 25 May 1947. There are details of climbs in England, Scotland, South Africa, Egypt, Italy, Switzerland, Syria and Lebanon. In addition, there are maps, illustrations and photographs included. There are many details relating to meets of the Junior Mountaineering Club of Scotland.

The work, which is more of an autobiography than a diary, James Murray's life until about 1717. It includes 'A short account of quhat was memorable in ye life, especially at ye death, of Agnes Gilchrist, spouse to Jo. Duncan in Penpont' (folios 60-64).
