The letters of 1937 are all from Ruthven Todd, describing his feelings for Cicely and his activities. The couple were divorced in 1946 and there are no letters between 1937 and 1955. The rest of the correspondence concerns their son, Christopher, and their own lives.

Sir Charles Dalrymple corresponded regularly with many of his former Headmasters and teachers and his contemporaries at Harrow and Trinity College, Cambridge, in some cases for over forty years.
