Correspondence of the families of Mure of Caldwell and Mure of Glanderston., 1643-1873, undated.
Correspondence of the families of Mure of Caldwell and Mure of Glanderston., 1643-1759.
The seventeenth-century letters are mostly from the papers of William Hamilton of Killileagh, Under-Secretary for Scotland during the reigns of William and Mary, who left his papers to his relatives, the Mures of Glanderston.
Correspondence of the families of Mure of Caldwell and Mure of Glanderston, chiefly of William Mure (succeeded 1722), Baron of the Exchequer, and of William Mure (succeeded 1831), classical scholar., 1643-1873, undated.
The correspondents of both William Mure, Baron of the Exchequer, and of his grandson, William Mure, classical scholar, include many political figures; antiquaries are prominent among the latter Mure's friends.
Correspondence of the family of Brown, chiefly of Sir George Brown, Knight Commander of the Bath, and of his nephews, George, John and Francis William Brown, sons of Peter Brown (residing at Linkwood, Elgin), all three of whom served in the Army in India.
Notes on the relationships of the family are given at the beginning of MS.1847.
Correspondence of the family of Charles Dalrymple, 1st Baronet of Newhailes., 1849-1916, undated.
Correspondence of the family of Cuningham or Cuninghame of Robertland, chiefly of Sir David, 1st Baronet., 1636-1697, undated.
The letters treat almost entirely of financial and legal transactions in Scotland, England, and Ireland, especially with Cunninghams and other Ayrshire families. Public affairs are mentioned in the letters of the 1st Baronet to his wife, 1642, 1652-1653, undated, and in those of the Earls of Lauderdale (afterwards Duke), 1648-1650, and Glencairn, 1662, undated. Those of Mr George Cuninghame of Kirkland, 1647-1648, 1662, give a picture of the everyday life of the time.
