Menzies charters and other formal documents.
Most of the formal documents relate to members of the family of Menzies of that ilk (formerly Menzies of Weem and Enoch) and other persons of the name; Ch.10647 is a passport issued, 1846, to Sir Hew H. Dalrymple, 6th Baronet, whose descendant, the Hon Sir Hew Dalrymple compiled the collection to which all these papers belong.

Including: papers relating to Colin McDonell of Barrisdale, the Jacobite; a draft of a petition from Edinburgh Town Council requesting parliamentary authority to take over buildings which are listed for demolition to make way for improvements in the city (Ch.4531); and articles of roup of Tinwald estate with two sketch maps (Ch.4533).
Miscellaneous charters relating to the Chalmers of Auldbar.
As well as charters relating to the Chalmers family itself, there are other items which are apparently unrelated but which came with the bulk of the papers. Only one document (Ch.12806) is of 15th century date, and only one (Ch.12776) is of the 16th century. The rest of the collection dates largely from the 17th and 18th centuries.
