Scope and Contents
This collection of letters and telegrams had been numbered before copies were received by the Library, and this numbering has been adhered to. All letters are from Lord Herbert Scott (henceforth HS) to his mother, the Duchess of Buccleuch, unless otherwise stated.
The sequence of numbers 1 to 61, and 74 to 107, are chronological. Numbers 62 to 73 are an interpolation of telegrams, and this comprises a duplicate chronological sequence.
