Scope and Contents
The contents are as follows:
(i-iv) Four printed proclamations, etc., 1708, 1710, 1714 (folio 1);
(v) Obligation by Patrick Hamilton and other inhabitants of Arran to provide levies, etc., for the defence of the religion, laws, and liberties of the Kirk and Kingdom whenever desired by the Earl of Argyll, 1639 (folio 6);
(vi) Extract registered bond by Sir Alexander Irvine of Drum to the Committee of Estates to observe the National Covenant, 1641 (folio 8);
(vii) Post-nuptial Contract of Marriage between George Mackenzie (afterwards Lord Advocate) and Elizabeth Dickson of Hartrie, 1662 (folio 9);
(viii) Supplication by Edward Buchanan, son of Edward Buchanan of Spittell, to the Deacon and Incorporation of Talyours of Edinburgh for a bursary, 1670 (folio 10);
(ix) Warrant by the Earl of March in favour of William Bartrum of Duke- pooll (Bertram of Duckpool), to be his fowler, 1722 (folio 11);
(x) Account of William Middleton to the Sheriff of Edinburgh for expenses incurred in connection with a duel in King’s Park, with discharge, 1798-1799 (folio 12);
(xi) Letter of Lord President Hope regarding Lord Braxfield, 1838 (folio 14);
(xii) Copy Settlement and Codicils by Lord Gardenstone, dated 1788, 1790, 1793, and registered in the Books of Council and Session, 1793 (folio 16);
(xiii) Letter of the Bailies and Council of the Burgh of Montrose to John Scott, burgess thereof anent the hospital, 1590 (folio 30).
