Scope and Contents
The papers consist of the following:
(i) Petition, [circa 1658], of the 1st Marquess of Tweeddale to the Commissioners for the Administration of Justice concerning Elizabeth and Lilias Hamilton, daughters of Sir Andrew Hamilton, younger, of Innerwick (died 1640), with discharges, 1660-1690, by Elizabeth and Lilias Hamilton (folio 1);
(ii) Financial papers, 1667-1687, concerning Colonel James Lothian and his children (folio 60);
(iii) Financial papers, 1674-1690, concerning Sir James Hay, 1st Baronet, of Linplum (folio 85);
(iv) Judicial and financial papers, 1642-1643, concerning the Earl of Loudoun’s teind annuities (see also Ch.10834-10843) (folio 117);
(v) Taxation papers, 1665-1676, undated, including accounts (folio 154).
