Scope and Contents
The letters in this sequence are largely of Hobhouse to a variety of correspondents, including John Murray [II], John Murray [III], John Galt, John Hanson, Thomas Moore and John Polidori. Many of these letters relate to the poet Lord Byron, a great friend of Hobhouse. However there are also letters relating to other matters, including letters concerning the bequest of the Hobhouse papers to the British Museum. Typescript transcriptions of some letters of and to Hobhouse have also been included.
