Scope and Contents

Joe Corrie wrote numerous stories and articles for newspapers; much of his early work (including the novel ‘Black raw’, 1928) was published in ‘Forward’. MSS.26553-26559 are volumes of cuttings, arranged by Corrie, which contain his own work, reviews of his plays, and articles about him.

Dates: 1923-1939.

Scope and Contents

The notebook has some miscellaneous early 19th century newspaper cuttings posted in (folios i-v) and a notice of the death of Sir Thomas Reid, Baronet, written 1823, probably by William Ferguson (folio 183 verso). An article by A I B Stewart, ascribes the volume to Peter Stewart and gives family details (loosely enclosed at back, folio 190-196).

Dates: ?1760-1775.

Scope and Contents R Blackadder worked in Dundee, and appears to have been a member of the family of mapmakers and civil engineers from Berwickshire. He was part estate management consultant and part engineer. His interests ranged from manure and drainage, to the construction of damheads, ice houses, bridges, and railway curves.
