The reminiscences contain a certain amount of autobiographical information, but are chiefly concerned with composers and musicians whom D C Parker had met throughout his long career as a critic and writer on music. There is much information about such organisations as the Glasgow Grand Opera Society, of which Parker was secretary, and about the Scottish Orchestra, as well as about musicians of his acquaintance especially Elgar, Landon Ronald, Percy Grainger, and Felix Weingartner.
