Scope and Contents

The contents are as follows. (i) Journal of Neil Munro's visit to Canada, 1903 (folio 2). The later entries are wrongly dated 1904. Travelling with a group of journalists, Munro crossed the country by train from Quebec to Victoria and back. His journal is illustrated with newspaper cuttings and photographs. (ii) Journal of a tour to Italy, 1904 (folio 48); (iii) Journal of a visit to the Outer Hebrides, 1901 (folio 60).

Scope and Contents The journals with associated loose leaves, chiefly in continuation of the tour in MSS.11983-11985, from Geneva to Turin, Bologna, Florence, Rome and Naples, and a return via the Italian lakes, Switzerland and France to Minto (July, 1822). Later entries relate to George IV's visit to Edinburgh, and meteorological experiments at home. Scope and Contents Stephenson's diary covers his visit to Scotland from 23-30 August 1890. The writer gives his impressions of Edinburgh and Glasgow, and of places in the Forth and Clyde valleys and in the Central Highlands which he visited, such as Kirkcaldy, Dundee, Dunfermline, Greenock, Rothesay, Perth, Dunkeld, and Pitlochry. Scope and Contents

The tours begin by train from London and places visited include Glasgow, Oban, Ballachulish, Mallaig, Edinburgh and Perth. The writer's interests centre around the scenery, weather conditions, his fishing expeditions and the standards of Scottish hotels.

Scope and Contents

The journey began in London and ended in Edinburgh, and among places visited are Rouen, Caen, Bayeux, Coutances, Mont St Michel, Dinard and St Malo. The author appears particularly interested in architecture but devotes some space to the standard of accommodation. The volume includes a number of postcards of places visited.

Volume entitled 'Farrago Libelli' by Alexander Walker, consisting of three chapters based on Walker's first-hand experience of India., 1781-1784.

Scope and Contents

The chapters are formed by a journal of Alexander Walker's voyage from Europe to India as a young officer in 1781, a journal of the Malabar expedition under Brigadier-General Mathews against Hyder Ali in 1782-1783, and a journal of the siege of Mangalore in 1783-1784. This fair copy seems to have been made circa 1821.
