Scope and Contents MSS.6424-6453 are a reconstruction of loose numbered accounts kept by the factors. This series of accounts, as also in the case of the bound volumes (MSS.6454-6455), is arranged on the crop year system, generally estimated from Whitsunday to Whitsunday. Thus, Whitsunday 1705 to Whitsunday 1706 equals Crop 1705. Sometimes the crop year runs from one of the other Scottish Quarter Days, such as Lammas. This causes an overlap and consequently a crop year may be represented thinly or not at all...
