It was remitted to him by the Society in eight instalments between 26 May 1812 and 3 July 1813, and was intended for use in the compilation of the Society’s Dictionary. The contents of the manuscript are as follows:

(i) `Historia plantarum in horto regio Parisiensi`, late 17th century (folio 1). A list of plants, followed (folio 275) by a list of the trees and shrubs. They are closely related to Joseph Pitton de Tournefort`s Schola Botanica (Amsterdam, 1689), but are not as full.

(ii) `Methodus plantarum secundum D.D. Turnefortij principia Adornata`, dated at Paris, 14 April 1696 (folio 305).
