Not to be confused with letterpress copybooks where the copies are created through a mechanical process.

Scope and Contents

The letter book contains copies of letters 1892-1894 relating to catalogues of an international exhibition of fisheries in April 1892 (folios 1-144) and of an architectural exhibition in December 1892 (folios 145-205), both held in Edinburgh, and to a projected British Fisheries Directory by Walter B Blaikie (folios 206-253).

Dates: 1892-1894.

Scope and Contents

Much of the correspondence is with James West who was then Secretary to the Treasury. The subjects include forfeited estates, the payment of Crown officials, and window tax and other sources of revenue. A contemporary list of contents is inserted (folio iii).
