Book of Hours, fifteenth-sixteenth century, according to the use of Sarum, in Latin; written and illuminated in the Netherlands (MS.16499).

The papers consist chiefly of copies of speeches, acts, and official correspondence, reports of proceedings of the Council or Parliament, petitions, and papers concerning legal disputes, in some of which the 1st Marquess of Tweeddale acted as arbitrator.

The papers begin with copies of papal documents on the foundation of the College of Justice, and include also papers on judges' salaries, receipts by Lord Milton for his salary, petitions of the macers and clerks, acts of sederunt, and papers on points of law.

Also covered are the military establishment in Scotland, Leith Barracks, the military road from Dumbarton to Inverary, proposals for a Scots militia, and promotions.
Papers concerning the Bailiery of Inchaffray; this office was granted hereditarily to the Lords Oliphant in the first half of the 16th century and passed to the Oliphants of Gask with the lands of Gask., 1533-1755.
The papers consist of early acts of the Bailiery Court and documents concerning the claim of James and Laurence Oliphant of Gask to the office in the first half of the 18th century and their holding of courts.
