The papers include an abstract of precognitions of the Appin murder, with James Erskine`s notes on it (Ch.4453); royal commission appointing James Erskine a Baron of the Exchequer (Ch.4456); and documents concerned with the attempts of James Erskine, now Lord Barjarg, to settle his affairs after his son John`s death, leaving three young children (Ch.4481-4490).
