Proofs of Morrison's edition. The printed pages, pasted onto the backs of Edinburgh Public Library book order forms, are heavily annotated with background notes and corrections, expansions and re-ordering of the texts of the songs.

Dates: Probably 1890s.

Corrected proofs of James J Guthrie's 'These green pastures: essays in the spirit of Sussex', which was to have been issued by the Caravel Press., 1952.

Content Description Correspondence and papers of Dr Hew Morrison (1850-1935), Gaelic scholar and a native Gaelic speaker from Torrisdale, Sutherland. He became the first librarian of the Edinburgh Free Public Library, now Central Library, a post which he held until his retirement in 1922. The library had been founded with the help of a gift from Andrew Carnegie, with whom Morrison remained in close friendship while acting as representative for Carnegie's library foundation scheme.The papers include:...

The contents are as follows. (i) Letters to Robin Fulton, 1968-1969 (folio 1); (ii) Corrected galley proofs of numbers 25-27, 1967-1968 (folio 5). The order of contents differs from that in the published version, and galleys 5-10 of number 26 are missing. (iii) Typescript, with editorial deletions, of 'Transparencies', a sequence of poems by Iain Crichton Smith, published in number 29, June 1969 (folio 55); (iv) Drawings by Pete Morgan, published in number 32, March 1970 (folio 68).
