The pen is inscribed ‘Sir Walter Scott's pen given to Maria Edgeworth, August 14th 1825’.

There is also a small framed portrait of Sir Walter Scott's daughter, Sophia Lockhart, by Watson, 1823, also given to Maria Edgeworth, at Abbotsford.
