Scope Note: Documents relating to the management of all aspects of a landed estate, which is to be considered property of notable extent which may include, as general examples, any of the following: dwellings; outbuildings; grounds; pasturage; arable land; woodland; water courses. For papers concerning the administration of personal estates, in the narrow legal sense, on death see 'Estate inventories', 'Probate records'' and 'Probate accounts'.

Scope and Contents

Included are stipend and cess receipts, receipts for building work, and miscellaneous domestic payments. There is a reeipt for cess to the government of Prince Charles in 1745 (MS.13241, folio 126), and a receipt and note by William Adam (MS.13241, folios 121-122). They have not been indexed in detail.

Small groups of financial papers and accounts relating to individual factors and cashiers of the Dundas estate; in most cases the material appears to be subsidiary or preparatory to the main estate accounts., 1750-1797.
