The first canto is dated Venice September 16th 1818, the fifth canto is dated Ravenna, October 16th 1820. Originally intended as a neat copy for the printer the manuscript became a working copy as Byron made subsequent revisions and additions.

Scope and Contents
Emily Jackson departed from Edinburgh on 18 August 1887 with her sisters Ina, Jane, Joanna and Alice Maule, and travelled to Kilmorack Manse, Inverness, where they stayed until 21 September 1887. Narrative of Italian tour starts on 4 December 1891 after the family arrived in Rome until their departure on 9 February 1892. The narrative restarts on 7 April when the family travelled to Venice finishing on 22 April. There are a number of lists at the back of the journal...
