James Stirling served during the 1808 Spanish campaign under the command of Lieutenant-General Sir John Moore, culminating in the battle of Coruña, 1809. The memoirs start on 12 August 1808 and end on 23 January 1811 when the army returns to Spithead, England.The memoirs also contain an account of Stirling`s deployment to the Islands of Zeeland, Netherlands, during the Walcheren campaign which begins in June 1809 and ends in 1810 when the 42nd Royal Highlanders were brought home...
