Letter of Adam Ferguson to William Eden, 30 October 1779, on the American Revolutionary War. Ferguson thanks Eden for news of the American navy`s defeat at Penobscot, Maine and offers an analysis of Britain`s current position.
The conclusion of the letter has been cut out and pasted onto the bottom of the fourth page.
