Papers of Samuel Robin Spark.
Scope and Contents
Family and personal papers, circa 1900-2007, of Samuel Robin Spark. Comprising mainly letters of his mother, Muriel Spark, to her son and to her mother, Sarah Camberg. The correspondence includes some letters of Penelope Jardine; also letters of Martin Stannard, Muriel Spark`s biographer. In 1981, Robin Spark began keeping copies of his outgoing letters to his mother; these are filed into the chronological sequence. With family papers, correspondence and documents gathered by Robin Spark in relation to the controversy over Muriel Spark`s Jewish origins.

Arrangement
A detailed list of these papers was supplied by Robin Spark. His arrangement of the collection is largely preserved, except for one file of letters of Muriel Spark and one of copy letters of Robin Spark, both of which are now filed into the chronological sequence. A copy of each individual list is retained in the relevant file, and a copy of Robin Spark’s complete list is at Acc.13443/23.
Undated letters and notes generally remain as filed by Robin Spark, on the assumption that this will give an indication of the likely date of receipt.
