Playscripts, mainly of works performed at the Ramshorn Theatre, Glasgow.
Scope and Contents
Playscripts, 1985-2011, mainly of works performed at the Ramshorn Theatre, or by Strathclyde Theatre Group, Glasgow.
The theatre, in the former Ramshorn Kirk in Glasgow’s Merchant City, opened in 1992 and was run by the University of Strathclyde through Strathclyde Theatre Group. Established in 1971, Strathclyde Theatre Group grew from a student company into a radical and experimental group, which has provided an important, informal academy of theatre arts for Glasgow, for the University of Strathclyde and for Scotland.
The gift of these scripts to the Library was occasioned by the University of Strathclyde’s closure of the Ramshorn Theatre for budgetary reasons. Strathclyde Theatre Group survives as a touring company.
