Papers of Andrew Cameron relating to the Scottish National Party.
Scope and Contents
Andrew Cameron became active in politics and a card-carrying member of the Scottish National Party from the 1950s. His activities ranged from collecting signatures for the National Covenant to attending public meetings in support of the Yes campaign in the 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum. He was founding Chairman and Minutes Secretary of the Glasgow Kelvingrove Branch of the SNP, 1956-1958, and Chairman of the Blairgowrie Branch of the SNP, 1977-78, for whom he also attended party conferences as their nominated delegate, typically wearing an eye-catching jersey emblazoned with the SNP's logo knitted for him by his wife, Sheila.
The archive is comprised of papers from conferences and meetings Cameron attended, membership materials, SNP publicity ephemera, and copies of political speeches by Gordon Wilson.
