Manuscript, late 15th or early 16th century, of the 'Oryginale cronykil of Scotland' of Andrew of Wyntoun.
Scope and Contents
The manuscript was chiefly written in the 1530s. It contains an incomplete version of Andrew Wyntoun's 'Oryginale cronykil of Scotland', or 'Original Chronicle'. In Amours' edition of Wyntoun's work, this manuscript is referred to as the 'Auchinleck Manuscript'.

Custodial History
The manuscript was bought by the National Library of Scotland with the aid of the Reid Fund.
The manuscript was at one time in the possession of Sir Alexander Boswell of Auchinleck (died 1822), whose signature is on folio i, together with a note in his hand.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Bought, 1930, from the representatives of the late John Ferguson of Duns.
