Scope and Contents
John Bonar was appointed assistant minister at Leven in 1829 and Minister of St Andrew's, Greenock in 1835; like many of his family, he joined the Free Church in 1843. Most of the correspondence concerns Church matters (debates, assemblies, the calling of ministers to different parishes, etc.), but there are also references to Bonar's own career.
