Scope and Contents
Sir Alexander (1864-1937), a native of Forres, was chairman and managing director of MeVitie and Price, biscuit manufacturers. His generosity contributed substantially to the foundation of the National Library of Scotland. His diary, chiefly in typescript, starts at the beginning of 1917 and continues till a week before his death. It is concerned almost exclusively with his business activities - ordering of material and equipment, industrial relations, dealings with other manufacturers, etc.
