Scope and Contents
Included are: letters of Scottish botanists to James Sowerby, 1793-1814; letters to William Blackwood, Publisher (died 1834), and his sons, 1816-1874; correspondence relating to John Murray, of Bowling Bay, and the Anti-Slavery Movement, 1824-1850; letters to the 7th, 8th, and 9th Lords Napier, 1810-1865; and letters to David Milne-Home, of Milne Graden, from men of science, 1837-1873.
Among the writers of the other letters are James Graham, 1st Marquess of Montrose, Mrs Elizabeth Montagu, James Beattie, Robert Southey, James Hogg, Sir Walter Scott, Thomas Carlyle, James Nasmyth, and Lord Kelvin.
