Narrative of a Swedish Officer serving as a volunteer in the Seven Years' War, in the army of Frederick the Great and attached to Marshal Keith.
Scope and Contents
The narrative, which is in English and may be a copy of a journal written during the campaign, describes in some detail the march from Dresden to Prague, the battle and siege of Prague, and the retreat to Saxony after Kolin. On 3 August the writer left the service in consequence of Sweden declaring war on Prussia, but he continues to give reports of operations received in Dresden.
The book ends with accounts of Frederick's opinions of other leaders, of his reasons for attacking at Kolin, and of the Prussian army (desertions, arming, tents, rations).
