Lectures on Aristotle delivered by Robert Balfour at the College of Guyenne, Bordeaux.
Scope and Contents
The lectures, which are not the same in form as Robert Balfour's printed works, were delivered 'in Gimnasio Aquitanico' (folio 307 verso), and deal with Aristotle's logic in general, and particularly with Porphyry's 'Introduction' (folio 2); 'Categories' (folio 42); 'De Interpretatione' (folio 87); 'Prior Analytics' (folio 109 verso); 'Posterior Analytics' (folio 128); 'Topics' (folio 158); 'Sophistici Elenchi' (folio 176); 'Physics', I-V (folio 185); 'De Coelo', I-II, IV (folio 245); De Generatione et Corruptione (folio 277); 'De Anima' (folio 297); 'Meteorology' (folio 308); 'Nicomachean Ethics', I-VI (folio 333).
At the end are 'extemporaneous' elegiacs on the study of Aristotle at Bordeaux, dated '4 Calend. April', 1590 (folio 393 verso). At the beginning is a portrait of a man, inscribed 'David Chabodius, anno aetat. 30', 1597 (folio iv).

Separated Materials
Printed notices of subjects for disputation under Robert Balfour's presidency, 1588 and 1589, which were bound in at folios 183 and 393 respectively, have been transferred to the Department of Printed Books. One of the graduates mentioned in the latter is 'David Chabodianus, Picto'.

Contemporary vellum binding with gold ornaments, the initials D C, and the date 1605.
