Both manuscripts are bound in 17th-century morocco with gilt-edged boards.
Custodial History
The volumes were bought by the Advocates’ Library at the sale of Sir Robert Sibbald`s Library in 1723.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Presented, 1925, by the Faculty of Advocates to the nation on the foundation of the National Library of Scotland.
Bibliography
The work was first published by Robert Freebairn in 1728 and reprinted in 1749 and 1778. Another edition appeared in 1814 in two volumes, edited by Graham Dalyell. It was later published for the Scottish Text Society, 1899-1911, edited by A J G Mackay.
