Scope and Contents

The contents are as follows: (i) Draft letters and memoranda of Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville, on Indian and naval affairs, the proceedings against the Duke of York, 1809, and family matters, 1794-1810, undated (folio 1); (ii) Letter, with copies of other correspondence, from Admiral Sir David Milne to Robert Saunders Dundas, 2nd Viscount Melville, concerning intrusions of American fishermen into Canadian waters, and measures taken against them, 1818 (folio 48); (iii) Letters to Robert Dundas from the 6th Earl of Seafield requesting patronage, 1819, and from the Lord Provost of Edinburgh, on the building of additional churches in the city, with Melville's reply, 1820 (folio 120).
