Copy, 17th century, of a journal kept by a member of Sir Robert Cecil`s suite during the period of his embassy to France, February-April 1598, before the signing of the Treaty of Vervins.

A similar manuscript belonging to the Marquess of Westminster – see ‘Third Report of the Royal Commission on Historical Manuscripts (London, 1872), appendix, page 211 – was used by Algernon Cecil in ‘Life of Robert Cecil’ (London, 1913).
