Scope and Contents
The work is a collection of biographical accounts of the Cardinals, preceded by a dedicatory epistle, signed N N, to an unnamed prince or nobleman, and followed by a concluding address signed H H. It is apparently compiled in chronological order of appointment, with accounts of those appointed in 1647 (folios 40-59, written in the same hand) added to the volume. Printed portraits, to most of which red has been added, have been pasted in at the beginning of almost every account, and a slightly larger portrait of Pope Innocent X has been pasted in at the end of the dedicatory epistle.

Bibliography
This manuscript is possibly a copy of an intended earlier and more elaborate edition of “La Giusta Statera de` porporati dove s`intende la vita, nascità, adherenza, possibilità, ricchezze, offitii, le dignità, le Cariche di ciascun cardinale Hoggi vivente and ivi s`intenderà anco le loro virtù meriti e demeriti, con l`aggionta delli penultimi sei cardinali promossi da Innocenzo X l`anno 1648”, which was published anonymously without portraits at Geneva in 1650. The dedicatory epistle, which is signed N N, and the concluding address, which is signed H H, are largely the same as those in the manuscript, and most of the articles are common to both. English translations of the book were published by H C[ogan] in 1653 and in 1660.
