Copy of Stair`s ‘Institutions of the Law of Scotland’, written apparently in or about 1666.
Scope and Contents
The general arrangement is the same as that of the first printed edition of 1681 (except that Titles 18 and 19 appear in reverse order) but the text in general appears to be rather shorter and is illustrated by references to earlier case-decisions, and the titles are divided into fewer paragraphs. The text is preceded (folio ii verso) by an index (more correctly by a list of Titles and their contents), in the same hand, which has also been responsible for the pagination, and is followed (page 265) by a "forme and process of the Lords of Session", also in the same hand.
Between folios vii and viii are remains of two leaves, which have been roughly torn out.
