Copy of Stair`s ‘Institutions of the Laws of Scotland’, written apparently in a number of hands.
Scope and Contents
The general arrangement is the same as that of the first printed edition of 1681 (except that Titles 18 and 19 appear in reverse order) but the text of each title is shorter, generally divided into fewer chapters, and illustrated with fewer references to case-decisions. The chapter-headings appear to have been written in after the copying of the text, and in Title 7 most of them have been omitted. Blank leaves at folios 17, 25, 31 and 35 verso. At the end (folios 195-204) are accounts of sixty-seven relevant decisions given ‘by the Lords’ [of the Court of Session] between the years 1663 and 1668.
