‘List of the Nos. in Collington Parish in 1780’.
Scope and Contents
The manuscript contains lists of the names of the inhabitants of the various villages and other small places comprising the parish (folio 1), and of Colinton itself (folio 6), followed by a list of ‘Seceders’, most of whom appear to be members of the Burgher and Antiburgher Synods of the Secession Church. It is not known for what purpose nor by whom the list was compiled: possibly the minister of Colinton may have been responsible. The list which is in its original covers (folios ii, iii) is preceded by the donor`s letter (folio i) presenting it to the Advocates` Library.
