11th-century manuscript of uncertain origin, containing the 'Satires' of Juvenal, written by at least two hands.
Scope and Contents
v.80-vi.15 and vii.137-218 are lost through loss of leaves; several verses in vi and xv are wholly or partly lost through excessive trimming. The text is of the Ψ group (cf. ‘Handschriftliche Grundlagen des Juvenaltextes`). Extensive scholia on folio 1 recto (i.1-57), sporadic thereafter.
Some initials in red, some in ink, others omitted. Written by at least two hands.

Collation: 1⁸, 2⁸ + 1 leaf after 7 (-2 ¹[?]⁸), 3-4⁸, 5⁶. Signatures in Arabic numerals in the lower right-hand side of the first recto of gatherings 2-5. No catchwords. Pricking with a triangular awl in the outer margins, from first recto to last verso of each gathering. Ruling with a hard point; the text is written in the left-hand side of each recto and on the right-hand side of each verso. 1 column. 55-56 lines in gatherings 1-2, 38 in 3, 46-48 in 4-5. Ruled area 210-225 x 65 millimetres. Secundo folio: `maiestas et si’.

Custodial History
The ex libris of Sir James Balfour is on folio ii verso, dated 1650 (Denmilne number 46 on folio i). It was number 188 in the sale of Balfour`s books in 1698. Former pressmark: A.5.9. The manuscript was bought by the Advocates’ Library in 1698.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Presented, 1925, by the Faculty of Advocates to the nation on the foundation of the National Library of Scotland.
