Custodial History
The manuscript presumably remained in France until the 17th century, although there is no indication of its history until François Desmeulieux gave it to James Marchant in 1632 (folio i verso: `Jacobus Marchant hunc librum possidet ex dono francisci Desmeulieus amici sui, Sedani 3 decembris 1632`); it may have been Marchant who brought it to Scotland. Former pressmark: A.5.44. The manuscript was acquired by the Advocates’ Library before circa 1710.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Presented, 1925, by the Faculty of Advocates to the nation on the foundation of the National Library of Scotland.
