Incomplete copy of a descriptive and historical account of the public records of Scotland, followed (folio 14 verso) by observations, possibly unfinished, on the account.
Scope and Contents
Further versions of the account, both datable to 1760, each complementing the other, are at Adv.MS.16.2.14 and Adv.MS.33.5.6, which former is ascribed by a later owner, James Maidment, to William Tytler. In comparison with Adv.MS.33.5.6, which appears to be William Tytler`s original report, this copy lacks words and sentences at folio 6 verso, and a paragraph at each of folio 1 verso and folio 13 verso and breaks off at folio 14, where there is the beginning of a paragraph not present in Adv.MS.33.5.6, followed by a space.
The author of the observations on the account is unknown, but was possibly a member of the Faculty of Advocates. Also unknown are the purpose of the observations, or why only a part of Tytler`s account was copied.
