Pedigrees of families of Scottish baronets.
Scope and Contents
The pedigrees are alphabetically arranged beginning with Abercrombie, but going only as far as Dunbar, with several leaves left blank for the intended insertion of the pedigrees of the families recorded at the top of the leaf. Presumably this is a fragment of a projected but unrealized collection of the pedigrees of all the Scottish baronets. The work has been ascribed to Francis Townshend, Windsor Herald, but he died in 1819 and the paper is watermarked 1828: perhaps it was the work of his namesake who was Rouge Dragon Poursuivant, and who died in 1833. It may have been compiled for the use of Sir Charles G Young, Garter King of Arms, when drawing up the report on the grievances of the baronets, which was produced in 1835.
